1) Chicago Marathon (Bank of America Chicago Marathon): Full Marathon (42K) event | Venue: Chicago, Illinois, United States | Date: 8th October

It was founded in 1977 and has IAAF Gold Label status. Alongside the Boston, New York, London, Berlin, and Tokyo Marathons, it is one of the six World Marathon Majors. The Chicago Marathon is the fourth-largest race by number of finishers worldwide.

In 2016, men’s race was won by Abel Kirui (Kenya) – 2:11:23 hrs and the women’s race was won by Florence Kiplagat (Kenya) – 2:21:32 hrs.

2) Amsterdam Marathon (TCS Amsterdam Marathon): Full Marathon (42K), Half Marathon (21.097K) & 8K event | Venue: Amsterdam, Netherlands | Date: 15th October

It was founded in 1975 and has IAAF Gold Label status.

In 2016, men’s race was won by Daniel Wanjiru (KEN) – 2:05:21 hrs and the women’s race was won by Meselech Melkamu (ETH) – 2:23:21 hrs.

3) Toronto Waterfront Marathon (Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon): Full Marathon (42K), Half Marathon (21.097K) & 5K event | Venue: Toronto, Canada | Date: 22nd October

It was founded in 2000 and has IAAF Gold Label status. The race has quickly become an elite level marathon and is one of just five IAAF Gold Label marathons in North America.

In 2016, men’s race was won by Philemon Rono (KEN) – 2:08:26 hrs and the women’s race was won by Shure Demise (ETH) – 2:25:16 hrs.

4) Frankfurt Marathon (Mainova Frankfurt Marathon): Full Marathon (42K) event | Venue: Frankfurt, Germany | Date: 29th October

It was founded in 1981 and has IAAF Gold Label status.

In 2016, men’s race was won by Mark Korir (KEN) – 02:06:48 hrs and the women’s race was won by Mamitu Daska Molisa (ETH) – 02:25:27 hrs
